An absolutely terrific evening when Jimmy LaFave and his fellow musicians from Austin came to the Port Jefferson Village Center on Sunday, August 2nd to do an incredible show in the Sunday Street Series, co-sponsored by WUSB, for over one hundred attendees! Jimmy’s great voice powered a great collection of original songs and, as he is known to do, some covers of songs by Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, and John Fogarty, For me, Jimmy’s take on Dylan’s “You’re a Big Girl Now” was a highlight of the evening.
Jimmy’s band for this show included Anthony daCosta, known to audiences at our shows at The University Cafe, from a duo show he did quite some years ago with Red Molly’s Abbie Gardner. Anthony’s now down in Austin and Jimmy has brought him into his fold for am azing guitar work.
Just a great show! Jimmy isn’t in our area that often and we were delighted to be able to present him to audiences here. We’ll have him back for sure.
